I in particular like Birgit’s flip books; they are scattered all over her studio and tempt you to enjoy them playfully. They contain moving presentations of her sculptural output. Her “sociology” is often inspired by customary useful objects and with a streak of irony shows us the absurdities of everyday life. For example, suddenly there is a little metal cupboard at a bus stop from which you can take a ball and play with it to while away the time. I am especially fascinated by the diversity of her output and her seemingly inexhaustible source of ideas. The sculpture is brought to life by the user and in this way expands in a new and original way the concept of sculpture. This is all the more the case as these creations are not tied to some museum space.
