Lady Scooter

Material: polymer plaster, lacquer, rubber

The “Autoped”, the first motorized scooter, was developed in 1915. At the time such a technology was not considered ladylike, which is why the vehicle even became a political statement when ridden by the legendary suffragettes. Pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart

provocatively lent her support to a newspaper promotion campaign subtitled: “A famous female flyer who is moving fast although she has remained on the ground.”

My Lady-Scooter with strap-on high-heels platforms finally makes this “male toy” “suitable for women”; the rolling rental platforms have been so modified through stiletto heels that they suggest an effortless gliding on pumps & the like.

The girl who rode the scooter fitted with high heels promptly took off her shoes and sped off barefoot, even though my interface design with rubber studs is optimized for leather soles. She felt like the most pioneering of pioneers and didn’t give a damn about instructions.
