Masks in the park

Material: PET

What could make a conversation with a stranger easier, as well as rendering the encounter more intense?

How could silent communication be prompted in a playful manner between persons who are already close?

Transparent masks of stereotype characters as catalysts. Faces of Punch, the devil, grandmother, girl, policeman and dog modeled in clay, deep drawn with transparent plastics and left on park benches are aimed at sparking the curiosity of persons taking a seat.

A mother and her son playact themselves into the world of a girl who meets the devil. Amarried couple stage a kiss between a policeman and a girl in a spontaneous role play while their children try out meetings between dog, Punch and grandmother. The boy puts on two masks and realizes immediately that this overlayering produces hybrid identities. He finds the distorted view he experienced more fascinating than the view the others have of him. A man and a woman who have never met before make a flippant decision about the nature of their relationship in choosing their masks: She as a policewoman, he as a dog.
